In the 16th century, a manor house was built on the site of Filiaşi Castle. The prince, Moses Székely, also owned this building. From the stones of the formal manor house, András Geréb built a fortified castle in 1625. In 1628, Prince Gábor Bethlen donated the building to the young Mózes Székely. In 1635 it was given to Mátyás Huszár of Brenhida, and then it became the property of the Nemes family. In the following period, the condition of the building deteriorated steadily. Miklós Mikó acquired it at the beginning of the 19th century. The construction of the castle that stands today is linked to his name. In 1855, his grandson sold the court to Antal Zakariás, a mining entrepreneur from whom János Ugron bought it in 1866. The castle remained in possession of the Ugron family until its nationalization. Following the change of regime, the heirs reclaimed their legitimate property.
