The Town Hall of Odorheiu Secuiesc – In the service of the community

The Town Hall was built on the main square of Odorheiu Secuiesc between 1895-1896, in an eclectic style, according to the plans of architect Ottó Stehlo. It was declared as a monument in 1992. Today it hosts the mayor's office, but it used to be the main administrative building of Udvarhely County. Its first building was completed in 1733, and it was demolished in 1888. The new building was intended to be handed over in the year of the millennium but was not completed until 1897. The ground floor of the building facing the main square was designed for business premises. The main building follows a U floor plan, closed by the ceremonial assembly hall at the end of the courtyard. The latter houses the St. Stephen's Salon, which is valuable from the point of view of interior design. The decoration and coat of arms of the hall were made in the early 20th century.
