The Mocsonyi-Teleki Castle from Căpâlnaş – The Little Trianon in Transylvania
The Mocsonyi-Teleki Castle was probably built in 1860 by the landowner Sándor Mocsonyi (Alexandru Mocsonyi). The building was designed by the internationally renowned Viennese Architect Otto Wagner. Under the leadership and guidance of the architect Mór Kallina, Italian craftsmen were the building contractors. Although it follows the Little Trianon Castle in Versailles in its main lines and classicist style, it still differs due to its smaller windows and more extensive mass. The metal railing of its terrace, on the other hand, is almost entirely reminiscent of the Staircase railing of the Little Trianon. The building is surrounded by a garden. Its gate opens towards the central axis of the main façade. In 1964, the castle underwent renovation and now houses a nursing home.
